“A Bad Case of Stripes” by David Shannon
In A Bad Case of Stripes, Camilla Cream is nervous for the first day of school. She is used to being mocked by her peers, particularly for her favorite food (lima beans), so she wants to make a good impression. In her worry, she develops multicolored stripes all over her skin that no medical attention can seem to cure. The specific design changes depending on how others are judging her. By the end, the one fix was to eat lima beans despite her fear of being judged.
I think a fun activity to do with this book would be to draw themselves with designs that represent their emotions or fears.
