“Fox Has a Problem” by Corey R. Tabor

Fox Has a Problem is the 2024 recipient of the Theodor Seuss Geisel Award for the most distinguished beginning reader book. It is about Fox, who gets their kite stuck in a tree. This causes a series of inconveniences where they are trying to get it out, but only causing more problems for the other animals in the forest.

This book can be used in a lesson about cause and effect for young kids. Going over how Fox’s plans were supposed to work and how they ended up backfiring would be a very easy example of how events influence each other and how to problem solve.
