“The Very Hungry Caterpillar” by Eric Carle

This iconic story is about, as you can imagine, a very hungry caterpillar. They eat and eat and eat but are rarely satisfied. Once they eat enough, they get bigger and bigger until eventually ready to cocoon and thus become a beautiful butterfly.

This book invited learning about how caterpillars grow and what they eat. It also prompts learning about the transformation of a caterpillar into a butterfly, and thus how many different animals change over their lifetimes.
