“Where the Wild Things Are” by Maurice Sendak

This is a story about Max, a young boy who doesn’t like the rules his parents have for him, but loves indulging in escapism. His room transforms into a forest filled with “wild things,” giant, fantastical creatures who crown Max as their leader. They have a wonderful time and he returns to his room to go to sleep.

I always love artistic lessons- I’m definitely partial to them over any other kind, personally. I think having students design their wild things is a wonderful challenge for young kids to test their creativity.
