“Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” by Lewis Carroll
Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland is one of my favorite books of all time, not just in terms of children’s media. It is an absolutely magical experience comparable to that of a fever dream. It follows Alice, a young yet very smart girl as she navigates her way through Wonderland, a wacky place full of fantastical beings and logic.
This book is quite old (first published in 1865), but there is a reason it is still so culturally relevant today. Because I love this book so much, I have actually considered ways it could be taught in an elementary classroom many times before. The wordplay and made-up words are so fun to interact with that I would need them to make their own definitions for fictional words.
As a bonus, here is my Halloween costume from this year! I was the White Rabbit from Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland :)
Hopefully someday I will be able to persuade my friends to do a group costume where they are the other characters! They don’t all read much, but I can convince them.
